Thank you for participating in the Swatch Swap for the 2011 Midwest Weaver's Conference "Northern Wefts,” June 23-25, 2011 in Hancock, MI. Please encourage your friends to join in the fun. You may enter as many categories as you wish and we are hoping to get a great turnout.
Weavers: Prepare 22 samples for each category you have chosen. One of your samples will be added to the Midwest Weaver's Library and keep one for yourself as you may not get one of yours back. The other 20 samples will be exchanged and collated so you can pick up a packet of inspiring samples for future projects.
The woven swatches should be 4"x4" with raw edges finished by glue, Fray Check, or machine stitching. Record the weaving draft and other pertinent information on the entry Record sheet. Make a copy for each sample. Attach a piece of each warp and weft thread and the swatch where indicated on the Record Sheet. Swatches maybe glued, stapled, or stitched onto the Record Sheet. Please tape the reverse side of staples to avoid snagging other samples.
Spinners and Dyers: Prepare 14 one-yard butterflies. Complete the entry spinning form and make 13 copies. Attach butterflies with staple or stitching. Keep one for yourself.
No group will be cancelled, but they may be merged. If registration exceeds the number of samples another group will be formed.
Send your completed Record Sheets with Swatches to Jessica Speer, the Coordinator, by May 15, 2011. You may pick up your packet on Friday, June 24, 2011 from the Registrar during the Conference. If you are unable to pick up your packet, enclose a self-addressed, prepaid envelope sufficient to hold the collection of samples.
Entry sheet information will be available at the conference website.
