2025- 2026All our meetings will be at Finnish American Folk School fiber studio on the first floor of the Skyline Commons building in Hancock MI unless otherwise noted. From October through May we meet on the 3rd Saturday of each month at 1pm. June through August we meet on the 3rd Monday at 1pm. In September, we host our annual guild retreat weekend in lieu of a regular meeting.

Name Drafting Phyllis will demonstrate name drafting, we will all graph out our names for purposes of weaving or knitting etc. words into our fiber projects. Also if you need a name tag to wear to meetings, please bring material to work on them. They can be woven, felted, embroidered, sewn, knit or a combination of any technique.

Anita's friend will bring her ANGORA bunny to talk about raising these wonderful fiber animals. Bring a spindle if you have one and perhaps some wool or other fiber to blend the angora with. If you have allergies to angora, you might want to skip this meeting.

September 25-27 Retreat and Annual Guild planning meeting at Marsin Nature Retreat Saturday and Sunday 9-5 pm. Sunday is our annual planning meeting12:30 until we have 2025-26 planned.

Karen will teach an African roof lashing technique with waxed cotton cord and willow rods. You can make a coaster or a tree or? Karen will provide dry willow, bring sharp pruners to cut your pieces to length. A sharp pocketknife can be used to taper the cut ends if you like. The guild will purchase some waxed cotton to work with.
Phyllis will guide us in needle felting that can be further embellished with beading, embroidery or whatever you'd like. We can share ideas and techniques. Bring your fiber, yarns, beads or whatever treasures you'd like to incorporate into a mixed media piece beginning with a felted background.
