Guild History and Information

The Buellwood Weaver and Fiber Guild began with Dorothea Buell in Chassell Michigan. She had 17 looms at her home and developed a 17 member weaving guild. The Buellwood Weaver and Fiber Guild has been in existence since the early 1950's and has varied in size between 20 - 26 members.

The Buellwood Weaver and Fiber Guild holds monthly meetings in the Finnish American Folk School fiber studio in Hancock. From September through May our meetings are held on Saturdays at 1pm. During the summer we meet on Mondays at 1pm.

Some guild members are also members of the Michigan League of Handweavers and Wisconsin Handweavers as well as the Midwest Weavers Association. Many of our members show and sell their fiber art  at local Art Galleries. The Buellwood Weaver and Fiber Guild also participates in hosting the bi-annual U.P. Weaver's Exchange conference. In June 2011 we hosted the Midwest Weaver's Conference, 'Northern Wefts 2011' in Hancock Michigan.

New members are always welcome to our monthly meetings

Dues are collected in September $25 annually
