Buellwood July 2023 Guild meeting book binding

Our July meeting we used our Eco dyed covers and added our 4 signatures ( AKA sets of pages in a book) . I am sorry to say I did not get any pictures of the actual book binding . I was too busy trying to keep up with the process to take pictures.

Sean had a lot to share today. First his canvas Nantucket Tool bag.
It is a handy bag for all your weaving tools.

Below is Sean’s tablet weaving loom. Set up to weave one of his complicated bands.

Sean told us about wood tablet cards and a method of  of speed warping. We need to hear more about that! Where all threads are threaded at once. He uses 10/2 cotton. If you want to check out this loom and more information go to https://www.jkseidel.com/

Karen who was out book binding teacher  brought in many things to show us. Below is her Eco Printed birch Bark. The dark colored birch was steamed in iron water.
Karen is teaching a Birch bark journal with Eco Printing in September at Sievers School on Washington Island check it out https://sieversschool.com/product/eco-printing-on-birch-bark/
